This product obtained the PDO status in 1999 Calanda Peach is a ripen peach collected in late September and late October, so it is for sale only a few weeks. Pickers use the technique of “bagging“-it consists of protecting each fruit with a paraffin bag during the last 9 weeks of ripening, to avoid treatment with chemicals. As a result, Calanda Peach gets an amber color, and a perfect shape which reaches a larger size and achieves a particularly sweet flavor.
