Every year thousands of visitors amuse themselves coming to the province and getting to know a religious expression atHoly Week which is now famous all over the world. Although the main events take place in Teruel, there are other nine celebrations that make up La Ruta del Tambor y el Bombo del Bajo Aragón (closely related drums & brass drums). Wherever you go among the province you may find surprising traditional events, as all these places were entitled by the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest.
In the province, the roaring drums and brass drums accompany processions in religious events and do really make a difference from other Easter celebrations: Romper la Hora -drummers meeting in a concrete part of the city to play together on Maundy Thursday-, or a performance on crucifixion called Drama de la Cruz in Alcorisa or a wide range of processions held throughout the province. Drums roar and bells ring reminding a traditional belief that the sky shocked by the time Christdied.
To sum up, during Holy Week the province turns into a big stage becoming part of the culture, folklore and popular beliefs. If you like cultural tourism, this trip is a must.
