The beauty of its surroundings is the sum of the environmental, historical and cultural quality coexisting in Teruel. Many exceptional landscapes can be discovered along the province, as a direct consequence of its large expansion -nearly 15.000 km2 -. Since the province has been very well preserved, the European Union estimates that there are several environmental protected areas in over a third part of its surface. The remaining imprints of the different cultures which inhabited Teruel are still alive.
If we tried to name all the landscapes in the province we could make an endless list, but some deserve a special mention given its ecological values. We could say that the lake in the Natural Reserve Laguna de Gallocanta -in Jiloca region- theprotected pine tree landscape called Pinares de Rodeno in the Sierra de Albarracin- or the Mediterranean agricultural country sights in Matarraña / Matarranya region are some of the most important in the province. But we shouldn’t forget the exceptional river landscapes created by Mijares, Mezquín, Alfambra or Martin courses.
These wonderful surroundings will be the perfect scenery in your everyday life, while you are practicing adventure sports, BTT riding, riding a horse or hiking.
